Corchen

Corchen the Snake Goddess

Most are probably familiar with the snake goddess of the Minoan people, an image that conjures up a seminude woman consorting with snakes. Corchen is an ancient Celtic goddess who also has an affinity for snakes. While a great deal of information is lost to the modern person, much can be speculated. Nude woman and snakes are not uncommon imagery and are thought to symbolize fertility. A serpentine line is invoked in this piece.

hi Jodi,
this piece to me, looked quite like the ancient Celtic 'Sile na Gig' symbol, which is also a fertility 'goddess'. love it, and your other work,
look forward to seeing more....
